I recently saw a question pop up in my Facebook feed, asking if people choose public, private, or homeschool for their kids. What a great conversation starter!
Everyone has to make their own choice about what’s best for their family, and I understand that. But I do want to say how much I love the public schools in Laramie.
Honestly, we have it so good here that I can’t even comprehend what it’s like to educate kids in other cities. I have friends around the country who have no choice but to homeschool or pay exorbitant amounts of money for private schooling. They want their children to receive a good education and feel safe doing it. But in many places, those two things don’t necessarily go hand-in-hand.
What a blessing it is to live in a town where the public schools are above average and excel at preparing our kids for their next steps, whatever they may be. Whether they’re dreaming of college, entrepreneurship, trade school, or something else, Laramie schools can support our students.
This also means extra income for our families and more opportunities to be stay-at-home moms or dads. On top of happy, safe, educated children?! We kind of won the lottery here, don’t you think?
As a realtor, I’m often asked about our local school districts, and frankly, I love bragging about them. If you’re new to the area and have school-aged children, you should be excited about their educational opportunities!
I could write about this all day, so just one anecdote:
On the first day of school this year, the girls’ volleyball, basketball, and cheer teams met, high-fived, and celebrated my nervous kiddos when they arrived on campus. My heart absolutely melted. How great is that?!
So, in conclusion, this is reason #2,115 that Laramie is special. Man, life is good here in the Mountain West.
